The ThL W8 Beyond is a budget Android smartphone released back in June last year, spotting a 5-inch Full HD display powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Mediatek chipset and 1 GB RAM. Although the device is packed with high-end specifications, it is only priced at just $259 – 3 times cheaper than the HTC One and Galaxy S4. Of course, this device can only be purchase from online retailers since it is released only in the Chinese market. Like most other Android smartphones running on the Mediatek processor, the ThL W8 Beyond can also be easily rooted using the Framaroot app through the Boromir / Faramir exploit. Before we begin, I would like to warn you that during the process of rooting, there is a risk of bricking your own device. Follow the steps below on how to root the ThL W8 Beyond
- Download the Framaroot apk and place it on your desktop.
- Connect the ThL W8 Beyond to your PC ( Linux / Windows / Macintosh ).
- Copy the Framaroot apk from your PC over to your device’s SD card.
- Make sure that you have checked the Unknown Sources option under your device’s security settings before you proceed.
- Launch the file explorer app ( Astro File Manager / ES File Explorer ) on your device and install the Framaroot apk.
- From your device, launch the Framaroot app from the app drawer.
- Tap on Install Superuser from the Select an action to execute after root.
- Tap on the Boromir or Faramir option on the app.
- You should expect a pop-up like the one above to appear on the screen.
- Reboot your device.
- Congratulation! You’ve just rooted the ThL W8 Beyond.
